High Tea at Paris Fashion Week

High Tea and Fashion.. They were meant for each other. Socialites from all over the world enjoyed high tea and discussed latest fashion trends at Paris Fashion Show.

The latest craze for many American and British designers is See it now at the show and Buy it now. Who wants delayed gratification? A few of the designers already embracing this new trend, allowing the public to get their hands on designer clothes immediately on line are Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger and Burberry.

But is the establishment really changing? The Old Guard French designers including Dior, Hermes, Lanvin, Chanel, Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, Saint Laurent, Maison Margiela all unanimously voted against the new trend. This administrative body of French Fashion designer otherwise known as Federation Francaise de la Couture du Pret-a-Porter du Couturiers et des Creatures du Monde considered it but then chose to reject this new way of doing business.

The President of the Federation Ralph Toledano spoke out saying "Our clientele is educated and informed on how the system works" but he believes that the wait between the runways shows and when the clothes actually hit the stores builds enthusiastic excitement for the customer. The debate is on. As the reasoning behind the new See Now Buy Now claim that most customers lose interest in the long wait for the clothes to hit the retail stores.

Toledano also went on to say that this new idea works for more "marketing driven brands". But for the elite French Designers would compromise the quality of the French Designers work.
